There are so many misunderstandings about what fostering looks, who can foster, what's expected and so on. Opinions are as different and as many as the people who are voicing those opinions. In reality, foster parents can be from any cultural background; single or common-law couples, homeowners or renters, middle class, of modest income or even retired. Knowing that you don't have to be an impossibly perfect super-mom is one good reason to consider becoming a foster parent.
